AP English Literature – Winter Break Novel Reading Assignment

It is only a novel… or, in short, only some work in which the greatest powers of the mind are displayed, in which the most thorough knowledge of human nature, the happiest delineation of its varieties, the liveliest effusions of wit and humour, are conveyed to the world in the best-chosen language ― Jane Austen, Northanger Abbey

Although I want you to have a great time during the Winter Break, it is important that we not lose ground by completely ignoring AP English. We need to do more than merely read the novels, we need to study them. And by “we” – of course – I mean you.

I hope that all or most or some of you will check in here and confirm that you will check this page for posts about your novel. It isn’t so much assignments like normal classwork that I’m eager for you to do. Instead, I am hoping to provide some information, answer your questions, and ask a few of my own.

If any of you have ways of getting in touch with other students in the class to let them know to check in here, it would be exceptionally boss if you would do that.

I look forward to hearing from you all. Or most of you. Or some of you. Whatever.
